TPM plaudits

This is why I love TPM.

Why go to CNN, NYTimes, etc.? They do a good capturing the day’s overall news in a general way, but very bad at “breaking news”. I, unlike many others of the 2.0 persuasion actually do love reading the paper version of the newspaper. But do I? Ahem…

Sec. of State Clinton (sorry Kerry)

From the Guardian:

Hillary Clinton plans to accept the job of secretary of state offered by Barack Obama, who is reaching out to former rivals to build a broad coalition administration

Annie Lowry’s points are basically correct, I think. The “likeable” question about Clinton is just sexist silliness. Every time I heard her speak, I was impressed how eloquent and persuasive she was in rooting out core differences and mutual goals. Too bad there weren’t enough differences for her to point out with Obama, and just perhaps, she was too enticed by Bush’s campaigning tactics.

And Bill? He really does preoccupy our waking hours, doesn’t he? Philip Roth had it down in the Human Stain.  More of a fantasy than anything.

Visible Knowledge Project

Exciting work being done by the VKP. Randy Bass summarizes the meaning of “visible” in the project title, in terms of what technology has made available for researchers and educators: the visibility of the historical record, the visibility of learning processes, and the visibility of faculty processes.
