Share Contents for 1997 Season
Listed below you will find the contents of ONE SHARE for each week we
received vegetables in 1997. Please remember that the summer of 1997 had
the worst drought in New England in many years. This means that in normal
years, the share contents are likely to be even LARGER! Each farm will
grow different produce, but this gives you an idea of what is possible.
If nothing else can convince you to join a CSA, I think this list will
do it!

1 bunch hardneck garlic - this will be fresh from the field. You can eat
it fresh but for longer storage & stronger flavor, hang it in a dark,
shady place for 2-3 weeks until the greens are dried out. After that, leave
hanging or clip greens until you use them. This garlic was really great
last year so you are in for a treat!

means)

Here's a recipe that Sue at the farm suggested:
Potato Salad with Beets & Greens
-
Boil potatoes (they cook quick) and set aside.
-
Saute onions & garlic in olive oil; add beet roots, coarsely chopped.
-
Add stems & greens when roots are tender.
-
Add vinegar, basil, salt, and pepper to taste.
-
Serve on potatoes warm or cold.

Dandelion Greens:
Saute with oil, garlic, onion, & italian herbs. Once tender, add
wine vinegar.

1 bunch fennel (eat both leaves & bulbs)

1 yellow watermelon or 1 muskmelon
Fennel is good raw in lettuce and potato salads. Add to sautes & stir
fries.
Swiss Chard Pizza
-
Saute chard with onions, garlic, and hot pepper.
-
Mix in some ricotta and romano (or parmesan) cheese.
-
Put on top of partially baked pizza crust along with tomatoes.
-
Bake until crust is done.
This is also good on pasta, pita, bread, etc.
